Automated messages were not being sent out

One of the services that orchestrates automated messages - both those created manually in the platform as well as automatically created ones like push notifications for new campaigns - became unavailable on August 13th at 7AM UTC. We noticed the issue on August 16th at 8:30 AM UTC and resolved the problem within 30 minutes. During this time none of those automated messages have been sent out.

The service was unreachable during this time due to a security update in our platform that prevented it from renewing its SSL certificate. We have added monitoring to this service to make sure we are notified of any future problems immediately.
